Sephora Haul!

Happy 4th of July!! Today, I thought I'd share with you some items that I picked up from Sephora last night. From my last post you already know I expressed disappointment in the BECCA mineral blush in Gypsy so I decided to return and exchange it for another color. There were only 4 out of the 6 shades available at my Sephora - Gypsy, Damselfly, Songbird, and Sweet Pea. I swatched all of them and narrowed it down and ended up leaving with Damselfly which is a beautiful coral color with shimmer. BECCA describes it as a "bright coral".

I also ended up returning my Laura Mercier eyeshadow in African Violet because the pan I received was defective and it wasn't properly glued into the compact. But instead of exchanging it for another eyeshadow - I ended up getting Clinique's cheek pop blush in Plum Pop. How typical of me... ending up with another blush. I seriously have a problem. I've been eyeing these cheek pop blushes for a long time and everyone always raves about them. The shade is a cool toned fuchsia color and I think it would be beautiful once blended onto the cheeks. This blush is also $2 cheaper than the LM eyeshadow so I'm really happy with my purchase.

The last item I got was the beauty blender solid brush cleanser. I've seen people post about this on instagram and it intrigued me. I definitely don't wash my brushes often enough and I figured this might make me start washing them more regularly because I've heard people say this is really convenient and easy to use. I already tried it last night and I must say it is amazing at getting makeup out of my brushes. Definitely love it so far.

When I was checking out I decided to cash in some of my points for the Hourglass Mineral Veil primer sample. After going home and opening it I regretted not picking up 2. The sample actually holds a good amount of product and comes in a glass vial that feel really luxurious. I generally am never interested in any of the gifts that Sephora offers but this was the exception. People rave about this product and its so expensive so its nice to be able to get a deluxe sample to try out.

Anyway, that's the end of my haul. I hope you enjoyed!

Review & Swatches: BECCA Cosmetics Mineral Blush - Gypsy

Today, I am sharing with you today an item I regret purchasing. You will recognize it from my birthday haul from last week. It's BECCA's mineral blush in the shade "Gypsy" which is described as a ballerina pink. It can be found at Sephora for $32. It comes in a rubberized packaging (similar to the Nars packaging) with a metal top. I actually really like the packaging and it feels quite substantial in my hand. It comes with a mirror in the lid which is convenient.

When I swatched it in Sephora I immediately fell in love because shimmery pink blushes are right up my alley. It swatched as a beautiful light pink with golden shimmer. I immediately grabbed one to bring home with me. I was really excited to try it because I've heard such great things about BECCA blushes. However, I ended up being sorely disappointed. Although this blush swatched beautifully on the back of my hand, its way too light on my face. It barely shows up even when I build it up and when I look in the mirror I can barely see any pink - I mostly see just gold shimmer.

The blush itself is smooth and feels creamy but its a bit powdery kicks up a lot of dust when I dip my brush in it. I don't have anything against this blush besides the color. I just chose the wrong shade for my skin tone. I will be heading back to Sephora to return this and might pick up another shade that's better suited for me. I have my eye on Damselfly or Flowerchild. I'll definitely share with you what I end up exchanging it for.
